How We Got Our Start
Dr. Jessica Klein moved to Healdsburg with her family at the age of seven and like most young children dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when she grew up (that or a movie star)! Her parents quickly signed her and her 3 brothers up for 4-H all of whom were active participants until they graduated high school.
In 1999 Dr. Klein set off for college, fist attending San Diego State University where she got to experience life in the ‘Big City,’ (a life she realized was not meant for her). She then transferred to Chico State University so once again she could work directly with animals at the university farm. It was there that she realized that her life passion was indeed caring for animals and she set off to make it a reality.
She applied to UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and was accepted her first time! The next 4 years were gulling and she spent countless hours reading textbooks, sitting in classrooms and being grilled well intentioned professors. She did manage to slip in a little fun during those arduous years and married her high-school sweet heart in 2006.
At graduation, she was offered a Veterinary position back in Sonoma County. Though she had enjoyed living all over California her heart belonged to her hometown. So she gladly accepted the offer and moved back to her old stomping ground! For a year Dr. Klein work on all sorts of farm animals throughout Sonoma and Marin County before making the shift to predominantly small and companion animal medicine.
In 2015, Dr. Jessica Klein, Dr. Matthew Carter and his wife Jennifer Carter recognized a need in the beautiful and thriving town of Windsor for another veterinary hospital. One with hometown ties, commitment, and pride. So together, along with the help of the community, they joined forces to create Wine Country Veterinary Hospital! A place where we hope that you and all of your furry, fluffy or feathery family members will feel safe, comfortable and proud to have in your own hometown.
Thank you for letting us serve you.
